Upper Eyelid Surgery
(Upper Blepharoplasty)
Blepharoplasty Overview
Upper and lower eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, rejuvenates the eyes by addressing sagging skin, puffiness, and hollowing, restoring a refreshed and natural look. Combining both procedures enhances balance and harmony, delivering transformative results with one efficient recovery.
About Upper Eyelid Surgery
Enhance your natural beauty
Upper Eyelid Surgery, or Upper Blepharoplasty, is designed to rejuvenate your eyes, making you look more youthful and refreshed. This procedure removes excess skin and sometimes fat from the upper eyelids, making upper eyelids tighter and smoother.
Why Consider Upper Eyelid Surgery?
As we age, or due to our genetics, the skin around the upper eyes can become saggy and heavy, making us look tired or older than we feel. Upper Blepharoplasty offers a solution that removes this excess skin, providing a subtle but significant improvement in your facial aesthetic. In severe cases where excess upper eyelid skin obstructs vision, this procedure can improve your field of view.
The Benefits:
Rejuvenated Appearance: People might think you look very well-rested but won’t be able to put their finger on quite why. Your eyes will be more open and brighter.
Improved Vision: Removal of excess skin can improve your field of view in severe cases.
Boosted Confidence: Feel more confident and revitalized with your refreshed appearance.
What to Expect
Consultation: We will discuss your goals and evaluate your eyelids to create a personalized treatment plan.
Procedure: A small incision is made in the natural fold or crease of your upper eyelid to remove excess skin and fat.
Recovery: Most patients experience minimal discomfort and can return to normal activities within a week. You can expect mild swelling and bruising for 2 weeks after surgery.

Upper Eyelid Surgery FAQs

You will likely experience mild bruising and swelling for 1-2 weeks. Sutures will be in place for one week and are removed in the office. After a few days, you can resume normal activities like running errands, going to dinner, or returning to work. It's recommended to minimize eye strain from computer activity or reading during the first week. Using cool ice packs and elevating your head will help reduce swelling.
-
The incision is carefully hidden in the crease of your upper lid. Non-absorbable sutures are used, and you will come into the office one week after surgery to have these sutures removed.

Patients with poor scarring, such as keloids or hypertrophic scars, may not be good candidates for this surgery. Additionally, if you have had Lasik surgery, it is recommended to wait at least 6 months after Lasik before undergoing upper eyelid surgery.
-
Yes, it can be performed under local anesthesia, but this is patient dependent. Often, if upper eyelid surgery is combined with another procedure, general anesthesia is preferred. However, if you are only having upper eyelid surgery, local anesthesia is an option.
